Morris A. Nunes (Of Counsel)
Morris A. Nunes has thirty years of experience in private practice, concentrated in counseling and representing businesses and associations, and in real estate, taxation and financial matters. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia. Mr. Nunes regularly is consulted by other attorneys and by CPA’s on tax and financial matters. He also has testified as an expert witness concerning financial, legal and real estate issues and has served as an arbitrator in commercial and real estate construction cases.
In addition to his active legal practice, Mr. Nunes is an adjunct professor of law. He teaches at Georgetown University Law Center and at Catholic University's Columbus School of Law, where his courses have included Agency, Partnership & Fiduciary Law, Land Transactions and Legal Accounting. Additionally, he designed and teaches the Law for Managers course in Georgetown's McDonough Business School MBA Program. Previously, he served as the Senior Legal Instructor for the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. He regularly speaks to business, professional and academic groups on legal, business and taxation topics and has been a guest on various broadcast programs.
In 1995, Mr. Nunes was appointed by Virginia's Governor as a member of the Virginia Board of Professional and Occupational Regulation and served as Chairman of that Board from 1997 until 2003. In 2001, he received the Patrick Henry Award from the Governor for outstanding board service. In 1996, Mr. Nunes was certified as a Supreme Court Hearing Officer to adjudicate cases arising within the Virginia State Government, while also serving as a panel member appointed by the Virginia Supreme Court in medical malpractice cases.
Mr. Nunes is the author of five books on business and legal subjects (including Basic Legal Forms for Business and The Right Price for Your Business), as well as dozens of articles appearing in various professional and financial publications. Before practicing law, Mr. Nunes served as Controller for several businesses, as a securities analyst and as a licensed stockbroker. He remains active in several charitable and community organizations.
